Projects
If you have not read my section on Poetic Living, I recommend you do this first here. Part of the wonder (or benefit) of a classical education is that it cannot be compartmentalized or limited to a "box,"––for example, "the academic box" of the life of a student. The reason for this is that Classical education works directly on the heart of the student, developing and shaping it to be able to perceive what is True, Good, and Beautiful in the world. The result? Instead of an education that children can eventually forget about in adulthood, classically educated children grow up to be well-rounded and flourishing humans where the principles of truth, goodness, and beauty, and where the virtues of wisdom, justice, courage, and temperance inform all their pursuits. In this section of my website I present to you my own pursuit of these principles through several projects that enrich my life. As an educational leader I have learned that our work must transcend the classroom and seep into the culture that in-forms our children. Through these projects my hope is to inspire you towards poetic living, to bringing a little more beauty and delight to the world. Enjoy!
The Rhetor
ABSTRACT — The world we live in reveals itself to us through visual as well as auditory symbols—what we call “words.” As a result, we judge, value, make choices, and find our happiness based on the symbols we have gathered about this world. What words we allow to enter into our lives and what words we speak significantly shape existence both for ourselves and others. How then can we be intentional about creating a world that is in-sync with its true goodness and beauty? The Rhetor is a virtual space created to counterbalance the prevailing word-world that claims that human existence is absurd and meaningless.
